I am currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics at Virginia Tech. I received my PhD from the Department of Statistics at Rice University under the direction of Dennis D Cox. I have pursued postdoctoral training at the Department of Biostatistics of University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (supervised by Jeffrey S Morris), Statistical and Applied Mathematical Science Institute (SAMSI), and the Department of Statistics of Duke University (supervised by David B. Dunson).

My research focuses on the analysis of high-dimensional and functional data, including curves, images, signals, and longitudinal measurements. Using approaches such as Bayesian modelling, nonparametric regression, and machine learning, I develop flexible statistical models to characterize complex dependence structures in data, and discover systematic patterns or extract important features from the wealth of data. My research has been used to analyze spectral curves and mass spectrometry data in cancer studies, brain imaging data in alcoholism or smoking cessation studies, genomic data, DNA methylation data, and sensing data. I am also interested in applying statistical methods to finance.
